AAP RecommendationsThe American Academy of Pediatrics has issued Policy Statements emphasizing the importance of psychosocial aspects of pediatric care and the role of the pediatrician in educational planning. Pediatric residency training includes required experience in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (see the requirements for Pediatric Residency Training). AAP District II, which includes all of New York State, has created a “Task Force on Pediatrics and Childhood Learning Differences”. The Center for Learning Differences is participating in this task force, the goal of which is “to address the pressing need to better integrate the diagnosis and management of learning differences into pediatric practice.” A discussion of the issues facing the Task Force and a list of its members can be found in a front page article in the April, 2005 issue of The New York State Pediatrician. |
